Zebrafish ABCG2 homologs differentially efflux fluorescent ABCG2 substrates. HEK293 cells overexpressing empty vector (EV), ABCG2 or Abcg2a-d were treated with the fluorescent ABCG2 substrates mitoxantrone and pheophorbide a in the absence or presence of the ABCG2 inhibitors KS176, Ko143, elacridar and tariquidar. Representative histograms are shown from at least 3 biological replicates of intracellular fluorescence measured by flow cytometry. The control condition (red) of untreated cells shows cell autofluorescence, and the efflux condition (blue) indicates cells treated with substrate without inhibitor
