The functional activities of GLUT-1 and LAT-1. Transport of [3H]-glucose (20 nM) (A) and 6-NBDG (100 µM) (B) was assessed in the absence and presence of the GLUT-1 inhibitors BAY876 (1 and 10 µM) and Phloretin (100 µM). Transport of [3H]-L-leucine (9.3 nM) (C) was assessed in the absence and presence of the LAT-1 inhibitors JPH203 (10 µM) and BCH (100 µM). The transports were monitored in the apical-to-basolateral (A-B) direction over a time course of one hour. Data are shown as mean ± SEM of three individual passages of triplicates (n = 3, N = 3). Statistics: One-way ANOVA with post hoc Tukey test, *: p < 0.05, **: p < 0.005
