  1. In 50% of CSF samples with meningeosis neoplastica the CSF cell count was not elevated. The CSF-to-serum albumin ratio was abnormal in 69.4%, and total CSF protein was elevated (>450 mg/l) in 102 of 130 patients (78.5%). CSF lactate was elevated (>2.4 mmol/l) in 65.2%
  2. In 32.6% breast cancer was the primary malignoma, followed by bronchial carcinomas (25.0%), hematologic malignancies (21.2%), gastrointestinal tumors (8.3%) and neoplasias of the skin (3.8%). All other malignancies including primary brain and spinal tumors accounted for 9.1% of the cases
