Aki Urayama, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology, University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He received his Ph.D. from University of Shizuoka, Japan, and postdoctoral training in the fields of cerebrovascular biology and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Urayama focuses on the aging-associated changes in the blood-brain barrier (BBB), including (i) regulation of endosomal receptor trafficking, (ii) mechanosensing in the BBB, and (iii) cerebral vascular remodelling in aging and neurodegenerative diseases. His laboratory uses a variety of in vitro and in vivo imaging approaches.
