Highly expressed gene are genes with mean expression values >90th percentile. Both = high expression in both CPE and NPE. Sign. diff. gene expr.: Genes that are statistically significant higher expressed in the CPE or NPE compared with the NPE and CPE, respectively, according to our gene expression microarray data. The selection criteria were fold change > 5 and p-value < 0.001.
