Felix Schlachetzki studied medicine at the Heinrich-Heine University in Duesseldorf, Germany, and graduated 1996 (M.D.). His medical thesis (Dr med. title) was on the surgical management of carotid artery pseudo-occlusions within the Department of Vascular Surgery and Kidney Transplantation at the same university. He began his residency in neurology at the new Department of Neurology (chairman Prof. Dr med. U. Bogdahn, M.D.) focusing his scientific interest on transcranial color-coded sonography in various neurological diseases. From 2001 to 2003 he was post-doctoral fellow at the Brain Research Institute of Prof Dr W.M. Pardridge at UCLA, U.S.A. with a focus on drug delivery through the blood-brain barrier. In 2004 he passes his board exam in Neurology and became attending neurologist at the Department of Neurology at the University of Regensburg, leading the ultrasound unit and neurovascular research group. In 2007 he was also appointed head of the stroke unit and wrote his “habilitation” on drug delivery to the CNS. In 2013 the University of Regensburg appointed him as Professor for Neurology. He is author of more than 80 publications.
